For a restless hobo like me, there is no better way to spend a few hours than by checking out travel vlogs and giving myself some serious wanderlust. Here are some of my favourite travel vlogs that will inspire you to hit the road.
High On Life
For me, the High on Life team are one of the best examples of wanderlust and friendship combined. These four best friends spent a number of years travelling the world and documenting their adventures for their YouTube channel. They unfortunately lost two of their founding members in an accident at Shannon Falls in British Columbia on July 3, 2018.
The High on Life uploads combine slick videography with more raw footage of the friends goofing around and enjoying their travels in various locations around the world. Their love of travel, and their very real friendship is obvious while watching their videos.
Sabrina Chakici
Travel blogger and vlogger Sabrina Chakici specialises in luxury travel, so a lot of her footage is worlds away from how I travel myself. She hasn’t actually added to her channel in a while, and her footage is a lot less slick than some of the other bloggers on the list, like High on Life or Lost LeBlanc. I enjoy her videos though, they are real and have a sense of fun.
Her Great Barrier Reef video gives me some serious travel envy as she heads out on a private helicopter experience to a private sandbank to enjoy champagne and snorkelling.
Lottie Rainbow
Lottie Rainbow isn’t strictly a travel blogger. She describes her channel as “health, fitness, travel and life”. Almost half of her videos are travel related, including a series of vlogs from east coast Australia, which is how I first discovered her channel. Check out her Fraser Island video and you’ll be booking a flight and packing your bags in no time at all.
Lost LeBlanc
Christian LeBlanc is a great example of what hard work and perseverance can achieve. By his own admission, he started his channel 4 years ago with no photography or videography experience, and learned the skills he needed along the way. He now has more than 850,000 subscribers and one look at his now very professional travel videos will explain why.
My personal favourite though, is this very real, warts and all, look at what it is like to travel when everything doesn’t really go to plan. As someone who wants to travel long-term, I love these real glimpses at what life is like for those who are already living my dream life.
Travellight
Jordan. a.k.a. Travelight left Miami in 2016 to travel and has been on the road ever since. Check out her 1 Year of Travel in 3 Minutes video for a quick taste of what she’d been up to.
Fun For Louis
Definitely one of the bigger vloggers out there, you may have already heard of Louis Cole. With over 2 MILLION subscribers to his YouTube channel, Louis keeps his fans entertained with daily blogs about his adventures. Check out his video below for a quick peek at what his uploads have to offer.
The Vagabrothers
The Vagabrothers are Alex and Marko and have been documenting their travels on their YouTube channel since January 2014. What started as an attempt to have their TV pilot noticed has grown into a weekly vlog to share their passion for travel with the world. Watch their Sri Lankan elephant safari below to see them combine two of my absolute favourite things (i.e. travel and elephants).
Kristen and Siya
“Once you’ve touched the world, you’ve changed yours forever.”
Kristen and Siya from Hopscotch the Globe share their travels in their weekly YouTube uploads. They share their now extensive knowledge on a range of subjects, from destinations to trip planning to travel hacks for saving money. Watch this video for some pretty strong motivation to pack up and go.
Hey Nadine
Hey Nadine is another YouTube veteran, with videos on her channel going back as far as December 2006. Coincidentally, she actually went to university with Ryker and Max from High on Life. Her weekly vlogs will take you all over the world, without leaving the comfort of your own home. Watch the video below for her own intro to her channel.
Trev and Chels
Trev and Chels share their 2 years of adventures with the world on their travel channel. Check out their series of East Coast Australia videos to give you some serious wanderlust. Pro tip: DO NOT go wandering around crocodile territory. It’s not clever and it’s not funny.
Be My travel Muse
Kristin Addis, the creator of Be My Travel Muse, is a solo female adventure traveller, a regular guest writer on Nomadic Matt’s website, and a successful blogger in her own right. I only recently stumbled across her YouTube channel while researching the Nusa islands in Bali.
